Michael Drane was born on January 6th 1980 in Louisville, KY but shortly after he was born, his father became employed by Walt Disney Co, moving his family to Orlando, FL where Michael grew up and went to Dr. Phillips High School.

As part of the Center for International Studies magnet program at Dr. Phillips, Michael earned an summer internship at the British Houses of Parliament. This experience had such a formative impact on him, he decided to attend Richmond The American International University in London for his undergraduate education. While there he served as Student Council President and Committee Chairman for the University’s most celebrated event, International Night.

Upon graduating in 2002, Michael moved back to the United States and started his professional career in Washington, DC. Working for Calvert Social Investment Foundation (the non-profit arm of Calvert Investments, the social responsible mutual fund company), Michael first tasted the importance of relationship building, corporate sustainability and green business. There he saw the potential businesses can have on the environment and society if their business values were aligned with social and environmental sustainability.
